About me

My name is Luis Carreon, and i have been working in education about 10 years. I attended the University of Houston (Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology). Upon completing my degree, I began working for Houston ISD in the recruitment department as a Recruiting Associate, assisting the hire process for Associate Teachers in the district. Within 3 months I was promoted to a Teacher Recruiter position and worked as a recruiter for 5 years, traveling all around the U.S. looking for highly effective teachers. In 2016 I completed the Houston ISD Alternative Certification Program to become a Bilingual certified teacher. I began my teaching career at Durkee Elementary School as a 5th grade math and science teacher. I have served as a grade level team lead, science lead, ESL lead, robotics team sponsor, soccer coach and as a classroom culture specialist. I recently joins Fonville Middle School as a Teacher Specialist for STEM. I believe that all students deserve the best education available and equitable access to any and all resources to allow students to reach their full potential. i strive to advocate for students to have a plethora of experiences to allow them to envision a future career in anything they enjoy.
